Payroll Software Quality Assurance Tester

APS Inc. is seeking a software quality assurance tester to test web-based and client server/proprietary software. The incumbent in this position will be a technical, detail-oriented, professional, preferably with at least two years' experience in a quality assurance analyst position.

REQUIRED TASKS

Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, operating systems or network environments
Maintain databases of known test defects
Design test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures
Design or develop automated testing tools
Develop or specify standards, methods or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness
Document software defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software developers
Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
Identify program deviance from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance
Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content
Install and configure recreations of software production environments to allow testing of software performance
Install, maintain, or use software testing programs
Investigate user problems referred by customer support teams
Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules or potential problems
Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
Update automated test scripts to ensure currency
Test system modifications to prepare for implementation
Collaborate with staff and sometimes customers to diagnose problems and recommend possible solutions
Conduct historical analyses of test results
Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance & completeness, or to mitigate risks
Visit testing sites to evaluate software performance

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

CIS degree and/or two years' experience
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
Proven analytical skills, problem-solving experience and decision-making ability
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Demonstrated organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
