APS Inc. is seeking a software quality assurance tester to test web-based and client server/proprietary
software. The incumbent in this position will be a technical, detail-oriented, professional, preferably with at least two years'
experience in a quality assurance analyst position.
REQUIRED TASKS
- Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, operating systems or network environments
- Maintain databases of known test defects
- Design test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures
- Design or develop automated testing tools
- Develop or specify standards, methods or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness
- Document software defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software developers
- Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
- Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
- Identify program deviance from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance
- Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content
- Install and configure recreations of software production environments to allow testing of software performance
- Install, maintain, or use software testing programs
- Investigate user problems referred by customer support teams
- Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
- Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules or potential problems
- Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
- Update automated test scripts to ensure currency
- Test system modifications to prepare for implementation
- Collaborate with staff and sometimes customers to diagnose problems and recommend possible solutions
- Conduct historical analyses of test results
- Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance & completeness, or to mitigate risks
- Visit testing sites to evaluate software performance
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- CIS degree and/or two years' experience
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
- Proven analytical skills, problem-solving experience and decision-making ability
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrated organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
