We’ve come to the witching hour…when children will soon be trick or treating and payroll and HR managers will soon be in the thick of year-end processing. It’s enough to make your hair stand on end (the year-end stuff, not the children).

But don’t let year-end processing haunt you! Instead, follow our trail of treats and learn how you can have a less ghoulish year-end.

Treat #1: Have a Plan of Action

Year-end processing is definitely something you don’t want to approach flying blindly. You need to have a plan of action so you can get it all done in time. But where do you start with creating this plan you ask?

Treat #2: Tackle a Few Tasks Each Month

Rome wasn’t built in a day and year-end processing wasn’t completed that quickly either. If you try to do it all at once, you’re going to create unnecessary stress and maybe even makes some unintentional mistakes along the way.

If you have a payroll and HR provider, they should be able to provide you with resources to help. Guides and checklists can give you a roadmap to follow, so you know exactly what you need to do each month.

Treat #3: Ask for Help

Probably the biggest nugget of wisdom we can throw your way is to ask for help. You don’t have to manage year-end alone. If you have other employees who you can delegate tasks to, do so. Once you’ve figured out what tasks you need to accomplish each month, decide which items you can delegate to other team members or staff so you don’t get overwhelmed.
